Riley's Tangled Party

As promised here are all of the details for Riley's 6th birthday. For those of you who haven't seen Disney's movie Tangled it is a great movie for young and old. I found so many great ideas on Pintrest for this party and then I added a few ideas of my own.
So here we go starting with the front yard leading in the front door. The hair is made out of a roll of plastic table cloth with purple ribbons and I got the idea HERE, it looked great from from the street. My husband and brother get to take all the credit for this one. Inside I used yarn and strung it back and forth tied it off and loosely draped it over the doors and staircase. The wanted posters were all over the house.

My mom was a huge help with the decorations and cake. I wanted to make the flags look like the scene from the movie at the festival for the lost princess, mission accomplished I do believe. I knew cutting the suns out would be way too much work so I Googled and found THIS link to a free SVG file so my Cricut finally got used:) I punched 1 1/2" circles in a different color to give them some dimension. About 75-80 flags later along with some floating lanterns I got at Hobby Lobby this is what it looks like.

I found these cute little lanterns at the Dollar Spot at Michaels and added LED tea-lights to shelves and the craft tables . There are tons of pictures from the movie so my husband was able to print them in all sizes and I placed them on doors and over pictures for a little extra touch. He printed THIS picture of the floating lights and I tried to make it resemble Rapunzel's Fireplace using plastic table cloths.

The cake was a variation of Disney's Tower Cake but instead of styro foam we actually made a cake. I used the Cricut again to make paper flowers for the cupcakes. The Jello boat idea was from a fabulous blog called Super Mom Moments and the Rice Crispy Paint brushes can be found HERE.

If you have seen the movie you know I had to use frying pans and the magic flower in the decor.
And finally crafts and goody bags. I made "dream journals" with Tangled activity pages for the girls to work on along with decorating wands that I found at The Dollar Tree. The Pascal blowers and activity pages for the journal are Here.
Sawyer my wonderful son was the perfect party assistant and helped watch the girls and organized games and activities.

I was so excited when I came up with an idea to make a hair clip to attach to the goody bags. I took apart the purple flowers glued them back together and braided yarn 3 sections of four 20" long pieces tied the end with a purple ribbon and glued them to the back of the flower and then on to a hair clip. I think I will add more details and pictures in the Tutorial section in a few days.

It was a great party and the kids absolutely loved it and can you tell I had a blast making it happen.

Another week has come and gone and that means it is time for my regular Saturday The Sweet Stop Sketch. It was a busy one for me working on decorations for my Riley's upcoming 6th birthday party. If you follow me on Pinterest you might have noticed a theme of Rapunzel. By the way have you tried Pinterest? I love it and boy is it ever addicting. I will share some pictures when everything comes together.
Today I have a card that made for my sweet friend Shanyn's birthday whose favorite color happens to be green. I picked this Saturated Canary stamp called Whispy Fairy because it reminded me of her daughter. I have so much fun coloring Krista's images, I especially enjoyed doing the pleats on her skirt this time.

I just wanted to share a birthday card I made for my son. This year was all about pirates and Jack Sparrow so I found this great Treasure Map digi from Make It Crafty and paired it with this cute Pirate Cooper from Paper Pretties. I was so excited I got a Spellbinders Grand Calibur for Christmas and it gave me a chance to use the Grand Dies Label 1. I doodled the X around the bottom and colored everything with Copics but unfortunately I can't seem to find the list of colors. Coloring the map took quite a bit of time but it made me so happy that he loved the card so much he actually sat and looked at all the details before tearing open the presents.

I hope Santa was good to everyone. It was nice having a little break from the everyday routines and taking a little break from crafting to get some mojo back. I enjoyed having the kids home and seeing all of the excitement and craziness.
Well after a short break at The Sweet Stop (thanks Korin!!) we are back with a super fun sketch and I must say Korin did a wonderful job on this one.
I am so excited Tiddly Inks has these brand new super cute digis called Wryn and Friends and I couldn't wait to color one up. Wryn reminds me of my Riley so you will be seeing more of them from me:)

For my card I started with this weeks The Sweet Stop Sketch SSS140. The paper is from Bo Bunny Crush Collection, great Valentine's papers. I made the little garland from Maraschino Bakers twine by The Twinery. The image is Tiddly Inks Grow a Little Love and the sentiment is from C.C. Favorites of 2011 Part 2

Here we are New Year's Eve, I just can't believe it!! So I have been thinking about things I want to do in the New Year with this blog and hobby. I have a few tutorials to finish including a hair color reference chart and I want to take pictures and share a few organizing ideas. I want to create just for fun and work on more projects a side from cards. A resolution that I broke last year...use the digis and rubber that I already have. Start a Facebook page... check (see my side bar I would love it if you "Like" my blog) and start an Etsy shop. Last but not least spend more time visiting my Followers. I love you guys and sometimes DT work can take so much time that I just can't make it to everyone's blog but I so love and appreciate all of you and the comments.

I thought it would be fun to do a year in review on things I made over the past year. For the most part I picked something from each month. How is everyone surviving the last minute countdown to Christmas? I still have cards to mail, baking to do and presents to wrap but it is all good. Today is a bit of a sad post as it is my last one as a member of the By Lori Designs Team. I can't believe how fast the DT term went by. Lori Boyd is such a talented lady and a wonderful person and I am so happy to have been apart of such a wonderful and talented group of ladies. Today I made a calendar page for the much neglected hanger I have had for so long. I used super cute Winter Ella along with a calendar download from Taylored Expressions that you can find HERE.

I am not sure I will be able to make any more posts this week with so much to do, so just in case I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and say Thank You for all of your visits and comments they mean the world to me.

Winter Review and All That Scraps Digi DT Call

I have to say this post is a little hard to write. After a year and a half I have decided to step down from the All That Scraps Digi Team. It is hard because Christine gave me my first DT position and I am so grateful to her. C.C. Designs were then and now among my favorite stamps. The good news for the rest of you is there is a Design Team call for the All That Scraps Digi Team and you can find all the details on the ATS Blog. I am going to miss all of the wonderful team and my leader Ria so much!!
Today the team is reviewing some of the winter digis. I merged Sugar Plums Ski Bunny Trevor along with the Snowy Fence. The sentiment is from Amy R Stamps Holiday Greetings. I used my hand cut cloud dies and sponged around them to create the sky and added Polar White Flowers Soft and Martha Stewart glitter for the snow. The layout is from December's SFYTT but I did rotate it.

For my next project I created a snow filled ornament using the super sweet Polar Bear Digi.

I hope everyone had a good week. It was another busy and fast one here. We had a fun Friday night taking the kids to the Children's Theater and a trip to the River Walk to see the Christmas lights. Now it is time to get those cards mailed, presents wrapped and the house ready for company.
The Sweet Stop Sketch is a great one for those last minute Christmas cards. I was running short on time and decided a snowman would be perfect since there isn't as much to color. I have had this stamp since last year from Sugar Nellie and finally inked this cutie up but I couldn't find it at Funky Kits.

So it actually feels like winter in South Texas, I wasn't sure I would see it after the summer we had. I am going to keep the post short this evening since I have a lot of cards to make this week. Tuesdays are By Lori Designs Inspiration day so I have a couple of cards to share with you.

Welcome to December, I can't believe it is already here. How is that shopping going? Not to bad here except I don't know what I have bought..LOL. I do shopping for a couple of people and have 2 birthdays to shop for so I get confused sometimes and my list keeps getting lost:)

Tis the Season for Tags

Today my "baby" Addison turns 4 so I am busy trying to make a monkey cake. She adores monkeys and those cakes are hard to find so this will be the second year to make one. Anyway with that being said my post is super fast today but it is Tuesday which means it is Inspiration time at By Lori Designs and the team has some great things to share with you.

I hope everyone here in the US enjoyed your Thanksgiving and for everyone else I hope that your day was a blessed one. The kids had fun making "thankful leaves" for everyone. We cut out leaves for everyone and they write what they are thankful for. It is always cute to see what the kids will say. Addison said she was Thankful for Thanksgiving Day..so cute. Anyway on to this weeks wonderful sketch from The Sweet Stop. Don't forget the sale over at Sweet 'n Sassy stamps, there are some great deals.
I have to say, I kind of love my card this week. I love large image panels for coloring and I absolutely adore the Saturated Canary stamps. This one is called Crushing on the Quarter Back and you can get her here at Krista's shop. I did leave off the sentiment and replaced it with buttons because it just seemed to clash with the team pendant she is holding. The paper is from Prima Madeline collection, one of my favorites. I cut out my own cloud template and sponged the background with CTMH Twilight.

Happy Saturday!! I am sorry I am a bit late with this weeks Sweet Stop Sketch. I totally had a brain bubble and late last night after seeing Breaking Dawn:) realized I never finished coloring my image or posting it. I worry about me lately. Do you ever have weeks where there is so much going on you just can't keep it all straight?
My card this week is a double duty card, The Sweet Stop and a Birthday card for my little monkey who turns four in about a week.

I used the fence punch instead of the ribbon detail and did add a few embellishments but other than that kept the same sketch. This cute monkey digi is from ATS and is called Tulip Monkey. The sentiment is from Lilli of the Valley and the paper is Three Bugs in a Rug Chloe.

Hi friends!! The All That Scraps Digi Team a has made some more gorgeous creations to share with you this week. We are reviewing some of last years Sugar Plum Digis by C.C. Designs but remember they are also available in rubber too.

My poor altered note book went through a lot of changes, I just couldn't get it to where I was happy with it and still not sure.... but one thing is for sure this Santa Emma and Presents are too cute!!

As I said this is an altered note book that I thought I would use for all of my holiday lists. The note book I got at Michael's in the dollar section. I used the Martha Stewart Holly punch to cut out the vellum leaves. I placed Emma on top of a vellum panel and used to Liquid Applique with a heat gun for the fur trim.

Thanksgiving Wishes

Hi everyone!! I hope your week is going well, it is too early for me to tell here:) Today is Tuesday which means it is time for some By Lori Designs Inspiration from the wonderful design team. I decided to make a a Thanksgiving card which is something I haven't made this year. I used the super cute Katie and Grace Digi. I was having a very off day in the coloring department but sometimes you just have to go with it, at least that is what I told myself.
I picked up this paper in the dollar section at Target a few weeks back and thought if nothing else my kids could use it but it turned out to be the perfect whimsical touch I was looking for. I also had this burlap laying around for months just waiting to be used. The die is My Favorite Things Jumbo Scallop and the sentiment is from C.C. Designs Amy R Autumn Sentiments.

I first want to say a big "Thank You" to all of you who stop by and leave such nice comments. I appreciate all of you and I want to apologize that I haven't been able to visit everyone as much as I use to. This school year has brought on a lot of added activities and I may have over done it myself. I have some new goals for the new year but I will share all of that next month. I am so dead tired at the end of the day I just can't stay up so late anymore but I hope to get better.
I have another Christmas project to share with you today. I have been trying really hard to get a few Christmas cards done for those extra special people that appreciate a hand made card.
I used the new sketch over at The Sweet Stop SSS134. My stamp is from Elizabeth Bell called What's In the Box Peeker. And I used my new favorite holiday sentiment set from Sweet 'n Sassy called Christmas Tags. I loved the black and red wreath I made here and decided to make a card in the same colors to go along with it. The border punch is MFT Dienamics Scalloped Scallop and I added some silver dots on the edges to go along with the ribbon buckle.

Christmas Tags

Good morning crafty friends!! How did the week treat everyone? It was a super busy one here. I had lots of craft projects to do and the hubby was out of down so the work load was as bit more with the kids. I did get a lot of Christmas shopping done, I can't believe how it is sneaking up on us.
Today the All That Scraps Digi Team is sharing some more creations with C.C. Designs Sweet November Christmas Digis. I decided to get started on some tags. Yes, these are very quick and simple so they would be perfect to add to special gift. For my tags I used Angel Babies, Jolly Elf, and Cookie Break all from Sweet November. The papers are by Recollections called Warm Wishes. All of the ribbon came from Hobby Lobby and to finish them up I used several different corner punches.

It's Begining to Look Like Winter

Well maybe only in my card world is it looking like winter. It is still warm here in South Texas but I am not going to complain because it isn't 105 anymore. I often think I would like to live somewhere that has more "seasons" but the mild winters here are so nice.

Cardinal Blessings

I decided to make something a little different to show you how versatile Sweet 'n Sassy stamps can be. I used the Cardinal Digi so that I could size him to fit my wreath but it is also available in a great clear set. I colored the image with Copics and did a second set of wings so that I could pop it up to give dimension. The Flowers are from the Your Friendship Set and I just stamped, layered and added some silver Stickles to edges. The Swirls are all from Sizzix and the Pine Branch Punch from Martha Stewart is my favorite tool this time of year. The sentiment is from the new Sweet 'n Sassy Christmas Tags (love this set).

Here is a close up of the way I colored the feathers and added Polar White Flower Soft to create a snowy look on the branches.

Truly Blessed- The Sweet Stop Sketch 133

Right before I started typing this I read This Post from Katie Renz's husband. Most of you know she has been battling a horrible cancer that has touched so many in the stamping community. After reading what he wrote about his wife and hearing the pain she is in I am so overwhelmed with sadness I just ask that everyone pray for her and her family. It makes you realize how fragile life is, how strong people can be and also how lucky we are for every minute we are given with our family.
Now on to one of my favorite things about Saturday....The Sweet Stop Sketch and here is my card for this week's challenge.

So even though I have been back from vacation for a little over a week it took me that long to get back into the swing of things and to get crafty again. How was everyone's Halloween? We had a fun one here lots of decorations and costumes all around. Me and the hubby love to dress up with the kids, I guess you could say it is expected but let me tell you something that totally got on my nerves this year. Parents who bring their kids up to Trick or Treat and then hold up a bag of their own..seriously? And I am not talking just one we had three in a row that did that, it was unbelievable. Since when is it OK for adults to get candy it is about the kids. Is this common or just happening in my neck of the woods? Anyway I wanted to share a couple of pictures of our night. I also updated the previous post because I was told my Disney slide show isn't working on some computers.

Back From Vacation

I made it back from our vacation to Disney World and we had a wonderful time. We made a lot of memories including dinner at Cinderella's Castle, a pirate makeover and my son got to sword fight the Jack Sparrow on stage(he was in heaven). It was a lot of walking and people every where but it went so well that I wasn't ready to come home. I hope you don't mind but I wanted to share a few pictures of our vacation.

Today By Lori Designs has some wonderful inspiration by the Lollipop Girls. Here is a card I made last week and forgot to post it with all of the excitement. I love making cupcake cards and just decided to add some cute little flowers to make the frosting. I used the BLD I'm One-Girl Digi image and paper from Lilli Bee's Hello Sunshine.

Halloween Scene

Hello crafty friends!! I am so excited to be making my first post as and official member of the CMC Copic Challenge Design Team. This weeks challenge is a fun one using those Copics to create a Halloween or Fall project not only is there great inspiration from my team mates but we have a wonderful sponsor Glitterbabe. I am writing this morning about and for Katie Renz you can meet her HERE on her Card blog and HERE on her Family Blog.

Many of you may know that she has a wonderful husband, 3 beautiful little boys, that she is a super Mommy and way talented crafter...she also has Stage 4 Gastic Cancer.

Today, her husband wrote an update on her blog. Although we have never met, her story touches me beyond words and my heart breaks for her and her family. I am continuing to pray for Katie's Miracle!!!!! I hope will join me!

Lori Boyd at the start of the year was asked to design a stamp for Katie,and ended up getting an email from her telling her how much she loved it. She said it really was her boys. She was so very very sweet and very appreciative! Sooooo, Lori and all of the BLD Team wanted to do a HUGE push of this image for her babies!! Lori told her we were going to do this and that forever this stamp would be theirs!! It just so happens that her 2 little guys have a birthday on the 19th of this month and her big boy has one on the 1st of December. I would LOVE to bless them with a wonderful birthday and Christmas, so that Kevin and Katie do not have to think of worry about that!

Hello crafty friends!1 You will be happy to know I survived the camp out with my five year old and the drought ended with some much needed rain so all is good here. I have a lot of crafty news to share so let me get started with that.

OK I have to say I am not a big fan of ducks. I don't have a reason just not my thing but I have to say this little Deliah's Ducky Christmas from Inky Impressions is just a cutie and I had a lot of fun working with it. I paired it up with "Did Someone Say Presents?" sentiment.

I added some Diamond Stickles to the ornaments but I just couldn't get it to show up in the pics along with the Polar White Flower Soft on the hat. The papers are from Echo Park called Season's Greetings, love these!! The branch punch is from Martha Stewart and it was colored with Copics.

It is time for another fun sketch from The Sweet Stop. We are revisiting some oldies but goodies this month. I apologize for my short post but I am trying to get out the door to go camping so I will share more later.

I used another one of may favorite digis from Wee Stamps called Winter Fairy. The paper is from last years My Minds Eye Signature Christmas, I love these colors and had to use them again.

Oh boy, not only am I late with this post I even did a boy card..shocker!! This is going to be a quick post to go along with my CAS card. We are hosting National Night Out here at my house and people we be here in 30 minutes, the great part is I am outside and not sweating..woohoo!!

The Sweet Stop Sketch 128 and I Am So Excited

What a busy week it has been outside of crafting this week and I am so happy it actually rained one day...yipppe. The ground was so dry it soaked it up by morining but it was great. I have so much to share I don't know where to begin. I am going to do a little Ink Spot Recap to let you know about some things but first by BIG news.
I have been keeping a secret and I can finally share it with you. If you follow me you know coloring with my Copics is probably my favorite thing ever. To me a colored image is my embellishment. When I first got my markers I discovered I had no idea how to use them so I Googled and found tutorials from Suzanne Dean and shortly after that she started her on line Copic Classes at Color Me Creative Classroom and I signed up for class 2 and the improvement was amazing. Here we are today and I can't even believe it I am now a member of the Color Me Creative Copic Challenge Design Team:) To be on a team with the person who taught me so much and to be with an exceptionally talented and sweet group of ladies is a blessing. Now I have to say I goofed a little.. I wanted my iamge to be a bit more of a square but I printed one a bit smaller and then didn't realize until I was almost done it was the wrong one, oh well the elements of the sketch are the same.

I have a little more Halloween inspiration for you today even though it was 101 degrees here again. It seems Fall is never going to come...maybe by December. I used this cute digi image from By Lori Designs called Frank. The sentiment just came to me and seemed perfect.

Wow, I don't know about you but it has been a busy and fast few weeks since school has gotten back in. This is my first year to have so much running and after school activities, I had no idea how much work it would but as long as we are having fun:) Today's card started out being for my daughter's new friend's birthday but it turns out that I might have to keep it for my littlest princesse's big day that will be coming up soon...oh and make a duplicate for Riley. Here is my take on this week's sketch at The Sweet Stop.

I have mentioned before what big fans we are of Rapunzel in this house and yes that includes the boys too, Sawyer has a thing for blondes. This image is from Disney's Tangled and was a free coloring page that I found here. The Sentiment is from C.C. Designs Amy R Magical Wishes , paper is DCWV Pocket Full of Posies, and the butterfly and flower punch is from Martha Stewart. I colored the flowers on the ribbon to match.

Inky Recipe Inspiration

If you visit me often you know how I love working and coloring with cute childresn's images and oh my, does Nicole at Inky Impressions have a bunch of cuties to choose from right HERE.
For so long I have wanted to get my recipe collection organized. You should see the mess I call a cook book, yikes!! We all love making cards but lets face it we have a huge stash and then give some of our favorites away. I think adding a favorite stamp to a recipe card is a great way to not only be creative in another way but also have a fabulous looking recipe book.

I will say it was a bit hard for me to remember to keep it CAS because it is a recipe card after all and a lot of embellishments just isn't practical. I used this a adorable stamp called Lili's Sweet Treat from Inky Impressions along with this fun paper from Doodlebug called Kitchen Gadgets. I typed up my recipe which, is super yummy by the way and then added a few doodles around the edges.

I am going to try to start doing something a little different on Friday and that is to join in with the wonderful Lori Boyd's Foto Friday. Every Friday Lori shares a picture and you can link one of yours to share with others. Well, I promised pictures of our new Fur baby so I thought this would be a perfect time.
This is Lilly our new Maltipoo (Maltese/ Poodle) she is a toy and weighs 1lb. but she is a fur ball of feisty.
My three year old brought her in the other day and thought it would be fun to roll her around in her brother's roller skate..yikes!!!

For my take on the challenge I used Joseph and Lynette's First Day it seemed a perfect fit. I thought the paper from Echo Park Happy Days is so cute by it self but to Dress it up a bit I added a little bit of bling, swirls and ribbon along with the cute cherry charm that you can find here.

My Partner In Crafting Crime is Back

Hi everyone!! I just wanted to stop in and let you know that My Partner In Crafting Crime is back with a new challenge.

The theme for this one is

#31 TRAINS, PLANES, and AUTOMOBILES.

and since we are just starting back we will keep it easy and allow any mode of transport!!

With that being said I used this cute Digi called Spring Ride from one of our two sponsors Bows & Berries. Our other sponsor this week is the fabulous Glitterbabe Digis so I hope that you will play along for your chance to win.

I kept my card clean and simple this week and just let these fun papers called Blossom Soup by Jillibean Soup and the cute digi take center stage. I made the sentiment and tag my self and used my Martha Stewart punch to add the flower details.

ATS "Tweet" Release

Hello!! How is everyone today? The nights have turned a little cooler which means the days aren't sweltering and we have actually been able to go outside and enjoy it. Now if we could just get some rain to help put out the wild fires. Today (Saturday)All That Scraps has two new digis by C.C. Designs. These little birds are just so fun!!

For my first project I used Tweetie Fall Digi and the sentiment was one I made up. I created the bird house by taking 5"x11" piece of card stock folded in half and then cut two 1"x4 1/2" strips of paper and crossed them to make the the roof. I then added my pattern paper and glued the roof down and cut the remaining corners off to create the shape. I then added the oval Nestie to create the bird hole and decorated away. I was pretty happy with the way this turned out.

Challenges

Shopping Our Stash- #16 Birds, Bugs & Beasts- I went with the bird part of the challenge and all of my paper and punches were pulled from my stash.

Crafty Creations Challenge- #135 Anything But Square

For my next project I used Batty Tweetie and sentiment digi. I have a few of these Halloween envelopes and I am hoping to create some more to make a little scrapbook.

And last but certainly not least Riley has made a card to share with everyone.

Happy Sweet Stop Saturday!! How was your week? Busy as always here. The after school activities have definitely filled up the week and then crazy Mommy decided to get a new puppy, like 3 kids and a big dog isn't enough...heehee. I will try and show some pictures later in the week.
And now on to some crafty business. Here is my card for this weeks sketch at The Sweet Stop. Yes once again I have done something a little different than my normal style. I am just wild and crazy like that:)

As I am looking at this picture I realize that I lost a lot of the shadows that I added around the flower. One day I will spend more time on taking pictures and get it figured out. The stamp set I used is from Sweet 'n Sassy called Poppies & Sentiments and the paper is Laced Grace by Glitz Designs.

I loved the unexpected "pop" of color this paper has so I played off of that.
